New Program for Young Adults on God and the Environment

First Meeting: Monday February 11 @ 7pm
Location: Private Home (email for directions)

Are you a young adult out of college or have young children at home and need a night out with good friends and stimulating discussion? Are you interested in the environment? Have you ever wondered what the Bible has to say about the environmental challenges of today? If so, we have a program for you!

Starting Monday evening February 11 and for the following six Mondays from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, Blair Shamel will lead a program called “To Serve and Guard the Earth: God’s Creation Story and Our Environmental Concerns”. The program will be based on the book of the same name written by Beth Bojarski, the new Executive Director of Camp Stevens. Based on her thesis for her MA in Theological Studies (she also has an MS in Recreation and Leisure Studies!), this is a 6-week program “connecting the growing Christian Environmental concern with the theology of creation in Genesis”. If we are lucky, we will even have Beth join us for a meeting or two.

The program is open to young adults from post-college age (minimum 21 yo) through their 30’s and for parents of young families. There will be a bit of reading to do, but mostly good discussion and refreshments. If you need help with childcare, let us know. You deserve a night out! To sign up, get details about the time and place, or if you have any questions, please call Blair at 619-995-9798, or email him at blair.shamel@gmail.com. This should be fun and, who knows, we might learn something!
