Stations of the Resurrection

You’ve heard of the Stations of the Cross.  Fourteen different vignettes, eight of which are Biblical, tell the story of the last hours of Jesus’ life.  Participants in the Stations usually move from location to location, like pilgrims traveling to sacred sites.  The Stations of the Cross are commonly observed during Lent.  Their purpose is to help worshippers make some connection with Jesus’ sacrifice, through devotion, meditation or message. This Easter Season we will be preparing a unique worship experience called the Stations of the Resurrection. This being an evolving tradition, everything’s up for grabs!  Trinity’s Stations of the Resurrection will number 15, just like those 14 traditional ones, but with one more for extra impact!  The first fourteen present Biblical resurrection encounters.  Beginning with the discovery of the empty tomb, these Stations will help us see that the Resurrection isn’t just an event that happened on Easter Sunday.  Our last Station presents a vision of heaven taken from the Book of Revelation.  It represents the complete victory over death that is our hope and destination. Crucifixion is not hard to believe in.  We have seen enough of the innocent suffering and the good being cut down.  But what does it mean to believe in and walk the Way of Light?  That requires faith and commitment!  Join us on the Via Lucis and rejoice in the victory of life.                                                                                                             Trinity members are invited to take on one of the Stations and make it their own.  Use drama, discussion, art, music, writing–whatever method comes to mind–to share the story and meaning of the Station.  We will present the whole service on Sunday evening, May 31.  Which station calls to you?  Choose quickly–some stations are more popular than others.
