Several parishioners participated in the recent Prayers & Squares workshop. From left to right: Teri McDonald, Jane Schuler, Martha Shaw, Moina Lucent, Joyce Collins, Dru Cowles and Cass Martensen.
Under the expert tutelage of dedicated quilter Joyce Collins, attendees learned how to efficiently cut and stitch together fabric pieces. The pieces will be arranged in creative patterns and sewed together as a quilt top. Additional Prayers & Squares ministers will help put the quilts together, sandwiching the batting between the quilt top and backing and completing the edging. Also, they will insert the threads for parishioners to tie as they pray for the person to whom the quilt is going.
Participants had a great time learning new techniques and getting to know each other better. Their social time naturally included food. This time it was a delightful "loaves and fishes" lunch.
All parishioners are invited to be a part of this caring ministry. There is a variety of tasks that need to be done; one need not know how to sew in order to contribute. For more information, email at prayersandsquares@trinityescondido.org.
