Eleven Trinity parishioners joined thirty Escondido Care Center residents for a Christmas Eve worship service. The service began with boisterous rounds of Christmas carols, both contemporary and traditional. Then worship, with scripture, homily and communion. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed Christmas cookies and conversation.
Trinity celebrates a Eucharist at the Center on the fourth Wednesday of each month. This year that fell on Christmas Eve. When Rev. Meg discovered that there was no special Christmas Eve service for the residents, the call went out to the parish to join in. Yes, the Center was having the usual round of Christmas parties and ho, ho, ho celebrations, but no real church service that embraced the true meaning of Christmas.
After is was over, residents returned to their rooms, feeling a greater personal warmth about the season. Trinity's eleven parishioners left feeling just as warm and as blessed. Is this the birth of another Trinity tradition? Join in next year and find out.
