Trinity hosted its festive and decadent party on Shrove Tuesday, otherwise known as Mardi Gras. The evening began with dinner at 6:00, followed by music and dancing about 7:15. There was music and revelry until mid-evening. Throughout the evening everyone was involved in decorating the "Alleluia" banner in preparation for Easter Sunday> The banner was hidden away, or "buried," at the end of the party.
Celena Lopes and Matt Pastell were crowned the Queen and King of Mardi Gras and reigned over their subjects with style.
For the third year in a row party goers were entertained by Claire Ward and her band "The Vagabonds". They played standard "golden oldies" from the 30's, 40's and 50's. The band included Claire on Piano, Ed Kruck on Cornet, Cal Rush on sax and Carl Warren on Drums and Vocals. Claire Ward herself is a little miracle. She is 93 years old, and plays up a storm. She is also manager of the band. It is always great fun to dance to this great music or just sit and listen or converse with friends and family.
As it should be, the tables were ladened with a phenomenal feast. Guests brought their very best, most fattening and decadent dishes to share. They don't call this "Fat Tuesday" for nothing.
