Rev. Meg's weekly herald of

What's Happening At Trinity

(Thursday July 2, 2009)

Hello to all!

It's time for Trinity's weekend update!  For the lazy days of summer, we have a lot going on.  So here is the schedule:

A few details:

Friday, July 3:  Friday Night at the Movies--"1776," a seasonly appropriate musical for all ages, 7pm at the Pastell's. - Why not get ready for the fireworks by viewing the story of our Founding Fathers?  A mostly-historical drama, telling the tale of the Declaration will get you in the Independence Day mood. Who knew the first Congress sang so well?  For added fun, we'll try to identify the Episcopalians in the group--there are a number!  We begin at 7pm at the Pastell's; come one and all!  Email for directions.

Sunday, July 5:  8 and 10:00 worship, 9am Rector's Forum (with a discussion centered on worship and its meaning), Sunday School at 10, Youth Group at 11:45 - Don't forget the Rector's Forum, just beginning with a new topic of worship.  Come talk about how what we do can make a difference in your living--they're not just words!  Also note the Youth Group Schedule--the Youth Group  has a number of planned activities this month--camping, weekly beach parties, meetings and more--all youth and parents should have a detailed schedule by now.  Let me know if you're missing details.

Tuesday, July 7:  Trinity serves breakfast at Interfaith Community Services, 5:30AM - Trinity's monthly service at Interfaith--time for breakfast at 5:30 am!  We need people to serve and make lunch for the over 100 people being served there daily.  Only takes a couple of hours and you're on to the rest of your day--give it a try!

Sunday, July 26:  Drama Sunday with one and only one presentation at 10; then--Trinity's Survivor Picnic and Potluck, 11:30 - We have plans for a readers' theater performance (not unlike our Vacation Bible School presentation way back in April).  But this performance is for all ages--show up and you get to be on stage!  Our one and only practice will be Thursday, July 23 at 7pm; our one and only performance will be Sunday, July 26 at the 10:00 service.  Give it a try--no experience needed, all we need is your voice!

Sunday, July 26:  Survivor Picnic and Potluck!  As if the drama in church weren't enough, we have the drama of a Survivor Picnic!  Soon you will be able to register your intentions to outplay, outwit and outlast the rest of the parish.  There's Trinity Jeopardy, the ever-popular soak tunnel, and lots of other fun to be  had.  Whether or not you compete, plan to eat:  we're providing the hamburgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers; you're providing the sides and desserts.  See the sign-up soon!

Friday, July 31:  Episcopal Night at the Padres, 7:05pm - Episcopal Night at the Padres is on the way, with tickets on sale now at a greatly reduced price.  Make your plans without delay because ticket sales end on July 19th.  Take the Episcopalians you know, and other friends and family out to the ball game for a great price!

Those are the July details--stay tuned for August highlights including more drama, and the return of the Restless Worship Experiment!

That's the news,

See you Sunday,

Mother Meg +

"To bring people to Christ, to bring Christ to the people."
