What's Happening At Trinity

(Thursday February 4, 2010)

Hello to all!

It's time for the news about Trinity, and there is big news, mostly for next weekend. But before we get to that, a project for some of you: Become a fan of Trinity! If you're on Facebook--we are, too! So find us and get connected--more details to come, of course, as we learn to use our new toy. In fact, if you know something about Facebook, why not give us a hand?

Now the schedule:

Details:

Sunday, February 14: Breakfast at 9! Worship at 8 and 10, and other regular stuff - Sunday, February 14: Don't forget Breakfast! We return to our regularly scheduled breakfast, 2nd Sunday of the month, with serving beginning at 9. Join us for a hot, cooked meal, and the really great company of people from both services! Plus, you can make a mask to get ready for the next big event--

Tuesday, February 16: MARDI GRAS! Party starts at 6 pm - It's a party! We begin at 6pm with a decadent potluck--no attempts at improving our dietary choices on this night! After dinner comes dancing, with a Bluegrass Band to back us up. We'll be crowning a new king and queen for the night as well. Everything ends a bit before 9 as we bury the Alleluia banner, say goodbye to fun and frolic, and get ready for the somber reality of Lent. This is a party for all ages--wear costumes, bring friends, and plan for a good time to interrupt your week.

Wednesday, February 17: ASH WEDNESDAY Services at 6:30 and 10 am, 7pm and now, 2:30pm at Escondido Care Center - Mardi Gras gets us ready, and now it's time to focus on Lent. Our Ash Wednesday services are held at 6:30 and 10:00 in the morning, and then our 7pm service which will include music. Finally, we have been asked to do an Ash Wednesday service at Escondido Care Center, so that will be added to our calendar at 2:30pm.

Now it's time for some Lenten details:

This Sunday, Feb. 7th, we will have Lenten props available. That means a number of pamphlets about prayer and spiritual practices, a Lenten devotional, a calendar, and, most importantly, a blank Lenten plan. Your job is to fill out the plan, deciding on your own discipline among the many choices. These plans are meant to be offered in church at one of the first Lenten services, and then they will stay on the altar as a reminder of the season we share, even as we do different things. We'll burn them all up in the Easter bonfire. But for this Sunday, take the guide home, and use it to get ready for Lent.

Wednesday, February 24: Lenten Soup Supper and program: "Being a People of Purpose," all starts at 6pm - Another Important Lenten Plan: Our Lenten Series. For four Wednesdays on Lent, beginning on February 24, we have something to do. The question that matters to our lives isn't, "Do you believe in God?" The important question is "Do you BELONG to God?" This is a question of intention and meaning. Our program, entitled, "Being a People of Purpose," gives us four weeks of asking the right questions about who God wants us to be and what we each can do about that. The program is for adults and teens, there will be child care, and it all begins with dinner. This is THE program for everyone to join--meant to renew and inspire.

That's the news,

See you Sunday, and on Facebook!
