2012 Cook-Offs & Annual Meeting

Enjoying tender tumies delights

Trinity held its 2012 annual meeting January 29. The affair began with Trinity's famous cook-off, the featured categories: Chili, Tender Tummies, and Decadant Desserts. As a result of the brazen, totally unfair voting with money, $732.90 was raised for the Trinity Perpetual Memorial Funds.

The meeting itself included reports and discussion on accomplishments in 2011 and plans for the future. In addition, new vestry members were elected. They are Cassie Lieurance, Kathleen Robertson, Holly Savarese (re-elected to full term) and Ken White. Delegates to the 2013 Diocesan Convention were also elected: Maggie Martinet, Joe Stanford and Eric Turrentine.

Winners of the cook-off contests were, in the Chili division:

  1. Jan McDaniel with her Rebel Yell
  2. Millie Burruss and Healthy White Chicken
  3. John Martinet and his Raggun Cajun

The tender tummies:

  1. Crystal Jefferson and her split pea soup with ham
  2. Julie Carroll and her classic sausage and sauerkraut
  3. Eric Turrentine with vegetarian stew

And for the decadant desserts:

  1. Millie Burruss for her Chocolate Lust
  2. Dru Cowles and Rasmataz Communion Cake
  3. tied: Amanda Savarese with brandy cake, and Sandy Dabasinskas with lemon meringue cookies

Trinity ToyMakers Deliver!

Trinity ToyMakers display Christmas toys they made for needy children

Trinity ToyMakers turned out a bountiful array of wooden toys to be given to needy children in the Escondido community. Wood and other materials needed for the various projects were acquired mid-year and the elves began their masterful work. Master ToyMaker Joe Stanford laid out the work schedule and patiently guided his helpers through their meticulous tasks.

The end result was 263 toys produced by 35+ dedicated workers. The toys were presented and admired during their blessing at worship service on December 18. They were taken to Interfaith Community Services (ICS) the next day so Santa's helpers could deliver them to deserving children in time for Christmas.

A Merry Christmas for all!

Trinity Arts Alive 2011:
An Evening with Richard Lederer

Richard LedererTrinity Arts Alive 2011 presented a fabulous art auction for the benefit of parish youth programs. Artists from the parish and community donated a striking array of their works for the auction. The evening included live music, a wine tasting by the Wien Family Cellars as well as overflowing tables of hors d'oeuvres to keep bidding energies high.

The hightlight of the evening was the hilarious wit of famed verbivore, logophile, word wizard and lexicraftologist Richard Lederer. Dr. Lederer kept the audience in stitches as he illustrated the many ways we so easily misuse words in the English language.
