The Trinity Choristers, children age six to twelve, help lead the congregation of Trinity Church, Escondido in worship through their beautiful music. They learn the fundamentals of music and apply these principles at the Choral Eucharist approximately once a month and on major feast days of the church. Singing in the Trinity childrens choir allows a child to experience the beautiful choral music of notable composers from the Renaissance through our own day. The musical training and appreciation a child will receive connects many aspects of a child's life. Music is a wonderful gift.
You will find performances by Trinity's choristers in the audio archives. Or, the full choristers may be heard here and a duet performance of a Psalm here.

What methods are used in teaching children about music at Trinity and what musical affiliations does Trinity have?
In the Chorister's program we will be learning about the different tools for making music; beat, rhythms, vocal singing signs (Solfeg) and pitches. The teaching method that is used was developed by a famous Hungarian composer and teacher, Zoltan Kodaly (pronounced Code-eye). The method is based upon an instructional teaching sequence that uses the voice to develop ear training, sight singing, and music appreciation. Using these tools will help create an understanding of music and a connection to our Anglican tradition. The children will be trained to use their voices to sing in a variety of languages, sit attentively in church, and cultivate the responsibility of participation in a group. Regular attendance is highly emphasized as each individual is important and depended upon weekly.

The Chorister's program will use a ranking method provided by the Royal School of Church Music that is a program that emphasizes excellence in musical standards in Christian worship. Each chorister member will progress to each level according to his or her musical skills accomplished and terms of involvement. The Chorister Ribbon levels are posted below.
