Trinity Episcopal Church Escondido

What You'll Find

Read about some of the values and gifts that make up Trinity's unique corner of the Kingdom of God.

Amateurs

An amateur serves out of love for the work, not for any hope of reward. At Trinity we focus not on shoulds and shouldn'ts but on the Love which created us, brings us together and inspires us to grow. We give, share, serve and perform the work of the church out of our love for God and for each other.

Potlucks

The various programs of church life embody these ideals and goals. As you participate in church life, you become part of the journey of this community toward God's Kingdom. We measure the success of our life together not by numbers but by the joy of our togetherness and the breadth of our companionship.

Space

First, you will find a holy space, a place set aside for the worship of our Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier. You will also find a space for you, a place to be yourself, to hear God's call in your life, to discover your gifts and abilities for service in God's plan. Trinity is a space for young and old, to know and appreciate each other. Trinity offers a space in our busy lives for rest and refreshment, a safe space for risk and revelation; a space to be still and know God.

Meaning

God's word is spoken here, not as a historical artifact, nor as a confining list of do's and don'ts. At Trinity you will hear the message of God's love, out of which you were created, through which you have been redeemed and by which you will be transformed. By participating in worship and church life you will receive the tools you need to know God's will in your life and make faithful decisions.

Answers (and Questions)

The hot issues of our day divide the Christian Church. At Trinity we know that there are no easy answers. We also know that all people are created and loved by God and called into a deeper relationship with Him. We will not be distracted by the issues of the day. We know that our task is to proclaim that message of love and invite all people to discover the depths of grace. We strive to welcome all people into our fellowship.

Connection

Our society is becoming increasingly fragmented. Competition and distance mar our relationships. The community of Trinity is not made up of people in constant and complete agreement about everything, but they do share common values based on faith. We know that life is a gift from God and that nothing will satisfy and fill our lives except the presence of our Creator. Together we work and live to celebrate the gift of life and the divine presence.

Growth

God loves you just the way you are, but He loves you too much to leave you that way! At Trinity we believe that the Holy Spirit will lead us into new ways of being God's people. Through worship and study, sharing and serving we work to be all that Christ calls us to be. In the words of St. Richard of Chitchester: "Day by day, three things I pray: to see thee more clearly, love thee more dearly, follow thee more nearly, day by day."

Family

That's an over-used word, but it is the only way to describe the community Trinity strives to be. Here you will find grandparents teaching Sunday School, children greeting new arrivals and teenagers leading the worship. Rarely does any institution in our society try to bridge the generation gap, but in the church we know that young and old, we need each other.

Second Chances

No one is beyond God's love and redemption. We believe that at Trinity. You are welcome here no matter what issues you face in your life, no matter where you have been or what questions you have. We are a community of forgiven sinners and we always welcome more.

Worship

It is not enough to talk and think about God. Worship is not only how we discern what God's word is for us, it is also how we experience the divine presence. You will know hope, no matter what your struggles, when God's love and inspiration are a reality. At Trinity we celebrate Holy Communion each Sunday because in receiving the Sacrament we touch a mystery, and we know that there is something more to our faith than just our comprehension.

Trinity is a community on the way. We are guided by the vision of Christ's call to be his people. Join us in the joys and adventures of this way of living.
